Domaine Ste. Michelle NV Brut Rosé

December 27, 2012

Appellation: Columbia Valley

Rick Casqueiro makes more sparkling wine than anyone else in the Pacific Northwest — and his wines are consistently superb and ridiculously low in price. This is a classic bubbly with 1.15 percent residual sugar that is barely noticeable. It opens with aromas of strawberries and raspberries, followed by yummy flavors of red currants and Rainier cherries. Rated “Outstanding” by Wine Press Northwest magazine. (11.3 percent alcohol)

Price: $12.

Cases produced: 17,700.

Food matches: Sparkling wine goes well with just about everything, and this will pair especially well with spicy Asian or Mexican dishes.
