Letter writer remembered

DOROTHY BISHOP, Bellingham

In honor of Spencer Bishop (Oct. 29, 1029-Dec. 12, 1996), who would have turned 100 this year, we felt the strong pull to write a letter to the editor.

When he passed away in 1996, the Tri-City Herald published a nice article with some examples of Spencer's many letters to the editor. We so appreciated reading that he had been remembered as adding spice to life through his letters.

As family, some of us would cringe at times when we read one of his letters in the Herald, knowing he'd possibly offended some of our friends or neighbors.

Spencer's comments around current events, especially during election seasons, are now very much missed in our households. Now, we can only wish we could see one of his letters printed in the paper.

Thank you from the Bishop family.
