Christmas sign dispute

PEG ROBINSON, Pasco

As a Mediterranean Villas resident, the homeowners association rules are more than rules. They are promises we make to each of our neighbors when we purchase a home in this neighborhood. Abiding by the rules is honoring those promises and is a sign of respect.

The president of the homeowners association is expected to bring to our attention any violation of community rules so we can correct the situation.

I appreciate Margaret Jacobson notifying Tim Meeker that the size of his sign is not in compliance with an established rule so that he has the opportunity to correct the situation.

I thank the Tri-City Herald for publishing the editorial, "Sign's message irrelevant in neighborhood dispute," in the Dec. 14 paper. This editorial presents a more balanced view than what appeared earlier in the week on the front page of the Tri-City Herald and on, I was told, one or more of the local TV news programs.

Editor's note: The editorial Robinson's letter refers to is available online at tinyurl.com/TCH-Sign.
