Walla Walla fell into a groove at the free-throw line Friday night to sink the Southridge Suns.

The Blue Devils went 7-of-8 from the line in the fourth quarter and 15-of-19 overall to defeat the host Suns 40-36.

After leading 24-21 at halftime, Walla Walla held Southridge to a six-point third quarter.

"They're a pretty good defensive team," Southridge coach DJ Traver said. "Shots were hard to come by, and the shots we had didn't fall."

Nick Haberling scored nine points for the Suns, who went 15-of-41 from the field.

Eric Klicker finished with 11 points to lead Walla Walla, which will host Pasco tonight.

Kamiakin 61, Kennewick 53: Javan Williams, who earlier in the day was named to the all-state football second team, scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Braves to the Mid-Columbia win at home.

Cooper Clyde led Kamiakin with 19 points, and the Braves recovered from a slow first quarter.

"We executed pretty well offensively tonight," said Kamiakin coach Brian Meneely, noting his team's 23-for-45 shooting. "We had some turnovers in the first half that kind of sparked them, but we were able to get that tied down in the second half and get some good shots."

Mitch Mueller scored 17 points to lead Kennewick, and Devven Ramos (another second-team all-state football player) chipped in 13 points.

Richland 71, Chiawana 53: Nathan Streufert had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bombers past the Riverhawks.

Richland revved up its offense in the second quarter, outscoring Chiawana 25-12 to lead by 19 at halftime.

"It was kind of a tight first quarter," Richland coach Earl Streufert said. "We opened it up in the second quarter. We kind of figured out their zone defense and pretty much never looked back from there."

Dalton Rausch and Wesley Henderson each scored 10 points for Chiawana. Henderson also grabbed nine rebounds.

Kiona-Benton 56, River View 45: Chritian Aguilar had 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bears to a SCAC East home win.

Tony Cortez added 13 points, and Nate Christianson had seven points and seven boards for Ki-Be, which jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter.

Terran Brown scored 16 points to lead the Panthers.
