Tri-City schools reported no issues Friday despite rumors that students would bring guns to school because of an anticipated doomsday event.
The Richland School District released a brief statement via Facebook saying all school campuses were quiet and no problems connected to rumors occurred.
Leslee Caul, spokeswoman for the Pasco School District, said the district's security staff and school resource officers had heightened awareness Friday but staffing was not increased. No issues were known to be reported, she said.
The rumors were connected to speculation that the world would end Friday because a Mayan calendar ended on Dec. 21, 2012.
