Author to sign books Dec. 29 at Hastings

Published: December 20, 2012

Ginger Baird Wireman will sign copies of her children's educational book, If Wishes had Wings, A Fall Flight of Fancy, from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 29 at Hastings, 1425 George Washington Way in Richland.

Wireman is a local environmental educator who teaches children about the shrub steppe, groundwater protection and salmon in a voice they understand.

"The book uses the tried and true dream format of such classics as The Wizard of Oz or A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court to help kids learn about where they live," Wireman said. "The main character has an adventure that's equally scary and humorous as he crosses from arid Eastern Washington to the wet side of the Cascades."
