Tri-City HeraldDecember 20, 2012

— Rumors have been circulating around Richland High School this week about students bringing guns to school Friday to prepare for a possible end of the world.

The rumors have prompted an increase in security at the school, said Steve Aagaard, Richland School District spokesman. The school’s prinicipal plans to address students it during an assembly today, Aagaard said.

The end of the Mayan calendar cycle on Friday has prompted a wave of doomsday speculation across the globe.
