WALLA WALLA -- The Walla Walla School District has received a $96,000 grant from the Department of Agriculture to increase the level of local foods used in schools.
The grant is expected to allow the district to work with local producers to bring produce into the schools, according to school district news release.
Money will be spent on culinary classes, farm tours, meetings with chefs for staff in the district's nutrition services department, and expand the use of school gardens and nutrition education.
