Carbon pollution

Published: December 17, 2012

ROLAND HULBURT, Richland

A recent article in the Herald stated, "Carbon pollution rises by 3 percent worldwide." We are now at the point of no return. Because of our pollution output, the planet's temperature will continue to rise. Glaciers and polar ice caps will melt, raising sea levels and creating monster storms and droughts in some areas and floods in others.

The article went on to say the U.S. reduced CO2 emissions while China is the biggest polluter. This comes as no surprise, considering we ship our dirty coal to China and let them manufacture the products we consume.

I realize this is only one of many problems we have in this crazy world, but it is a big one. Every year we refuse to reduce our carbon footprint upon our planet it will only get worse. It's up to each of us as individuals to reduce our energy consumption and therefore save our planet. Our children and grandchildren will thank us for it.
