A memorial service has been scheduled Friday for Hermiston Mayor Bob Severson, who died Monday after suffering an apparent heart attack on Friday.
The service will be at 4 p.m. at the Hermiston Conference Center, 415 S. Highway 395.
"The officials and employees of the city of Hermiston wish to express our deepest sadness at the passing of our mayor, Bob Severson," said a statement released Tuesday by council President Jackie Myers and City Manager Ed Brookshier.
" 'Mayor Bob' has been an active supporter and proponent for Hermiston for many decades. To many, he will always be remembered as the owner of Bob's Red Apple Market," the release said. "He worked hard for the betterment of our city as councilor and mayor for almost two decades. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jan, and their family. We will miss him."
On Friday, The East Oregonian reported that the 80-year-old Severson was flown to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he was in critical condition.
Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
