Port of Walla Walla gets grant for business park

BY THE TRI-CITY HERALDDecember 8, 2012

The Port of Walla Walla will receive $400,000 for the Dodd Road Business Park.

The grant was one of 18 projects to receive a total of $10.9 million from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board, according to a recent announcement.

Railex's new wine warehouse is prompting the port to make infrastructure improvements at the business park. Those improvements include extending Railex Road to the wine warehouse this year, which will cost about $577,000.

Next year, the port plans a $2.1 million project to add additional rail track to accommodate increased trains and a $1 million project to extend Railex Road to Raindance Road near Boise Cascade to add a second access to Highway 12.
