KIRSTEN CRIPPEN, Kennewick
I recently was walking the dogs in the fog. I was wearing bright colors and facing traffic, so I figured I'd be safe enough if I kept my wits about me. However, as I was walking southeast along Highland Drive, several cars came driving past me without their lights on. I know many people do this, but I wanted to write in about this.
Drivers have a responsibility not just for their safety, but for the safety of the other drivers and pedestrians. Remember the Texas highway pileup last month? I urge you to remember that primary purpose of your lights is not so that you can see the road; that is a secondary use. The main reason is so that other drivers, bikers and pedestrians can see you.
Be safe.
