Richland's Bratton in top 20 of 200 backstroke at Winter Nationals

Richland High School swimmer Lisa Bratton capped her 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships with a 19th-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Bratton was third in the C final with a time of 1 minute, 58.33 seconds, faster than her preliminary mark of 1:58.99.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin, who recently signed a letter of intent to swim for California, won the A final in a meet-record time of 1:49.18. Olympian Kathleen Hersey, who was in Bratton’s heat, was disqualified after a false start.

A day earlier, Bratton took third in the C final of the 400 individual medley.
