The Richland High School boys opened the season with a team victory in the Eastern Washington Swimming Boys High School Invitational in Walla Walla.

The Bombers got three Class 4A state-qualifying times from Andrew Blanchard (100-yard butterfly, 53.51 seconds), Ashton Pollick (100 backstroke, 55.55) and freshman Luke Jackson (100 back, 56.78) on the way to winning the meet with 499 points.

Second-place Hanford got three wins from junior Will Wertz in the 100 individual medley, 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle. He recorded a Class 3A state-qualifying time in the 100 free, finishing in 48.82.

Prosser junior Will Burgett was under the Class 2A state-qualifying standard in the 100 breast (1 minute, 5.82 seconds) for the fifth-place Mustangs.
