Richland High School swimmer Lisa Bratton finished third in the C final and 19th overall in the womens 400-yard individual medley Friday at the AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, Texas.
Brattons time of 4 minutes, 19.70 seconds was more than four seconds under what she swam in preliminaries (4:23.87).
In the 100 backstroke, Bratton was 28th in prelims with a time of 55.60 seconds.
Bratton will compete in her final event today, the 200 back. She will swim in the same heat as Kathleen Hersey, who finished fourth in the 200-meter butterfly at the London Olympics. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin is scheduled for a later heat.
The backstroke is one of Brattons best strokes. She advanced to the semifinals of the 200-meter back at the U.S. Olympic Trials this past summer and won the 100-yard back this month at the Class 4A state meet in Federal Way.
