— Prosser schools were temporarily locked down after a Mabton man lead law enforcement officials on a car chase around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday through the city, the Prosser Police Deparment said in a news release.

The chase started in Yakima County because of an alleged narcotics-related incident, police said.

Randy Moreno, 31, fled on foot after his vehicle crashed into a fence in the 600 block of Mercer Court. The Prosser K-9 unit tracked the suspect, who was found under housing materials behind a residence, police said.

Moreno was arrested and jailed in Yakima County, police said.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Prosser and Grandview police, and the Washington State Patrol assisted.
