The Wonderettes are back in town, bringing their delightfully entertaining musical story to the Princess Theatre in downtown Prosser.

The show, Winter Wonderettes, is actually the sequel to the Valley Theater Company's sold-out show from last year, The Marvelous Wonderettes.

The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23-24, 30 and Dec. 1, 7-8. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students and are available at www.theprincesstheatre.net or at the box office, 1228 Meade Ave., Prosser.

Director Candace Andrews recruited the same women to portray the four friends who made up the Wonderettes in the first show.

"This time it's 1968, and the four girlfriends are entertaining at the annual Harper's Hardware holiday party," Andrews said. "When Santa turns up missing, the girls must use their talent and creative ingenuity, plus some great holiday songs, to save the party."

The show features the music of composer Roger Bean and includes some classics such as Jingle Bell Rock, Little Saint Nick, Sleigh Ride and Winter Wonderland.

"When asked if I wanted to be in the Winter Wonderettes, there was no question the answer was yes," said Cat Warwick, who portrays Betty Jean. "We had so much fun with The Marvelous Wonderettes, we were so sad to see it end."

Stephanie Schell also seized the chance to reprise her role as Wonderette Suzy.

"It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to work with the same cast again," she said. "It's a joy to work with such talented people."

The rest of the Wonderettes are Courtney Eggert as Cindy Lou and Traci Honeycutt as Missy. Patricia Schlotfeldt is the music director, with Marcie Wall as choreographer, Chris Flodin as artistic coordinator, and Amy Milne as technical coordinator.

Andrews encourages Tri-Citians to make the musical an overnight visit to Prosser and enjoy plenty of other holiday fun.

"Prosser is full of surprises -- quaint B&Bs, excellent eateries, delightful shops and the city's crown jewel, the Princess Theatre," she said. "Winter Wonderettes takes everyone's favorite holiday tunes, adds a 1960s feel and mixes in a lot of humor."

Some of the charming B&B inns Andrews recommends include: Seven Gables Pensione, 257 Wamba Road, which is a restored early 1900s farmhouse near the Prosser Wine Village; Quilted Country Inn, 1108 Wine Country Road, a restored older home that sits along the Yakima River; and Vintner's Inn, 1520 Sheridan Ave., which is Prosser's only renovated historic three-story home.
