John Clement's annual Holiday Yard Sale for Charity is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 23-24 at Kiona Winery in Benton City.

The sale includes a selection of award-winning photography by Clement, as well as ceramic art by Vicki Gravenslund, art glass by Linda Ellis and aerial photography by David Wyatt.

There is no admission fee.

One of Clement's photos -- Aqua Gold 2 -- was taken while roaming the countryside near the Ringold fish hatchery in Franklin County.

"While driving north of Ringold, I came across some old irrigation conduit that was huge," he said. "You could drive your car though it. There was lots of rust and gouges and water mineral deposits on it. The blue you see are the mineral deposits that have been enhanced, the gold is the rust that has also been enhanced."

Those visual inspirations got him shooting abstract images of the conduit instead of his usual landscape shots.

"When I got home, I started playing around with it on the computer using color enhancements and warping programs to get what my mind's eye was seeing," he said. The end result is a print on metal because metal gives the image its luminosity, which adds depth, he added.

All the artists represented at the benefit yard sale will donate a portion of their proceeds to various charities, including Grace Clinic, Young Life, Doorways of Hope (an adoption ministry), and the Jaxson Shoop Special Needs Trust. Shoop was an art student at CBC who was seriously injured in a car crash earlier this year.

The winery is at 44612 Sunset Road.
