CBC basketball swept at N. Idaho

A cold night from the floor turned into a frigid visit to Idaho as the Columbia Basin College men dropped their season opener to North Idaho 87-52 on Tuesday night in Coeur d'Alene.

The Hawks shot 34 percent (21-for-62) from the field, including a dismal 23 percent (6-for-26) from the 3-point line.

Freshman guard Brian McDaniel led CBC with 13 points, and fellow freshman guard Kyler DeWitt (Chiawana) chipped in 12.

Mikey Hope led the hosts with 20 points as the Cardinals shot 52 percent from the field and 42 percent on 3s.

The Hawks open the Pierce Thanksgiving Tournament in Lakewood on Friday.

NIC women 83, CBC 61: Sierra Higheagle scored 18 points, going 7-for-10 from the foul line, and the Hawks shot considerably better than their male counterparts in a loss at North Idaho.

CBC (0-3) hit 20 of 38 (53 percent) from the floor, outshooting the Cardinals but losing the battle on the boards and in turnovers.

Cassidy Phillips added 11 points for the Hawks.
