The Prescott School Board was one of three 2011 School Boards of Distinction by the Washington State School Directors' Association.
Prescott School District, in northern Walla Walla County, won the award for districts with 1,000 students or fewer.
"These boards have excelled as school governance teams," said Jonelle Adams, WSSDA's executive director. "They provided extensive documentation and our evaluation was rigorous."
The Prescott School Board will receive a $500 award for the honor. The Sunnyside School Board in Yakima County was also recognized in the category for districts with between 1,000 students and 9,000 students.
Boards of Distinction are recognized for their use of researched-base governance practices to encourage high levels of student and district achievement. The association looks at student achievement data and other information in making its decisions.
