DAWN HANSEN, Kennewick
I am writing in response to Jen Scott's letter on Nov. 9. I agree that it is horrible that someone took her signs. One of the best things about our democracy is the right individuals have to express their opinions, and that right was taken from her. I am sorry that happened.
However, now that the election is over, all election signs should be removed by next weekend. The cities making up the Mid-Columbia allow up to 10 days after the election for candidates to make sure their signs are taken down. I have noticed several candidates have taken down their big signs, yet left the large wooden frames on which these signs were posted (an example can be found on the point in front of Abadan and the Mid-Columbia Ballet on George Washington Way). Though the signs are no longer there, I and many others remember whose names were once on the frames. Please be responsible and make sure the signs and their debris are properly discarded.
