1981: University of Oregon offensive line coach Bob McCray, who led Columbia Basin College to an 8-1-1 record and a No. 12 national ranking in 1972, announced the upcoming "Civil War" game against Oregon State would be his final game as a coach. McCray told Herald sports editor Hec Hancock that he might head back up to Tri-Cities. "I've always liked that area," McCray said.
1972: Former Kennewick star running back Jay Pulliam was one of five CBC football players named to the NWAACC all-conference team. Joining Pulliam were offensive lineman Bill Grigsby, linebacker Larry Houston, defensive lineman Roger LaRoche and defensive back Lance Farmer.
