JOHN P. OWEN, Richland
In a letter to the editor on Nov. 13, a contributor makes a political analogy based on an arts event, Titanic the Musical, which just ended its run in Richland.
He should understand that Democrats, Republicans, independents, straight, and gay humans all worked in collaboration on the production. Never once did we look each other in the eye and say, "We cannot do this."
Finally, it is ironic that the quintessential line in the musical came from the crow's nest of Titanic: "Mother of God! Iceberg! Right, ahead!" For the past four years we have witnessed many icebergs on the right and ahead. It is time to change.
Certainly, the largest and most formidable icebergs we face are right behind our foreheads and between our ears, and yet the most significant icebergs seem to be in the center of our chests.
