Extra DUI patrols begin in Tri-Cities, across state today

Published: November 18, 2012

The holiday party season starts this week, which means it's time for extra DUI patrols.

Law enforcement officers in the Tri-Cities and throughout the state will be starting a DUI emphasis campaign, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," on Wednesday.

Extra officers from the Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and West Richland police departments, Benton County and Franklin County sheriff's offices and Washington State Patrol will be on the streets through Jan. 1 looking for impaired drivers.

Drivers are urged to make a plan in advance for how everyone can get home safely and take a taxi if a sober driver isn't available.
