Inadequate coverage

November 16, 2012

STEPHANIE MIX, Kennewick

As the proud parent of a Southridge volleyball team member, I was very disappointed to see the lack of coverage team during its run at the state tournament. This young team brought home a third-place trophy, and yet there still wasn't a picture of them in the Herald. We all saw the Tri-City Herald reporter at the gym taking pictures, but where were the pictures in the paper? Your sports staff has made it quite obvious that Southridge will not get the headlines, pictures or attention that is given to the other schools in the Tri -Cities.

Kylie Fraga and Kimmy Brinkworth received all state awards at the same tournament, and still no recognition from the Herald. This team fought long and hard to make it all the way to state. Too bad you could not rally behind a local team and show it more support. Thanks to The Olympian newspaper, there was one picture of some of our girls.

w Editor's note: Last Saturday, the Herald sent local reporters to Lacey, Federal Way and Othello to cover Mid-Columbia state playoffs in high school volleyball, swimming and football. The same day we also covered state football and soccer games in Kennewick and a Tri-City Americans hockey game.

Tri-City Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
