Connell's mayor pro tem was in a Franklin County courtroom Tuesday, but a possible pretrial hearing was continued to give her time to consider a plea offer by prosecutors.
Monica Lou Pruett, 59, is accused of embezzling at least $160,000 from a Mesa farm where she did bookkeeping through her business, Lierman Business Services.
Pruett faces a Dec. 5 trial in Superior Court for first-degree theft and money laundering. Both charges include aggravating circumstances that the crime involved a financial loss greater than is typical, involved several incidents and that she abused her position of trust.
Pruett allegedly used checks from D&S Farms to pay her personal and business property taxes and power bills between June 2005 and April 2012, court documents said.
