A 27-year-old Grandview man died nine days after he was thrown from his SUV during a high-speed wreck in Sunnyside.
Albert L. Leija was not wearing a seat belt when he crashed his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer early Oct. 29 in the 1200 block of Midvale Road, officials said.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Leija about 30 feet from the SUV, which police said had apparently tumbled end over end three or four times.
Skid marks indicated Leijas SUV had gone about 120 feet before crossing the center line, traveling across the road and hitting the curb and sidewalk, authorities said.
Leija, who was a laborer at a food processing plant, had been at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland since the wreck.
He died Nov. 7, according to a death notice submitted Monday to the Herald.
