GRANDVIEW -- Three teen boys were arrested Saturday night outside a Grandview High School dance after an officer discovered they had knives and an airsoft BB gun on campus.

The high school was locked down as a safety precaution while officers from five law enforcement agencies searched for other suspects.

The dance resumed after police cleared the area and nothing else was found.

It started at 10:28 p.m. when a Grandview officer working security at the school dance saw three suspicious boys outside the building, but on school property, according to a Grandview police news release.

The boys did not go into the building where the dance was taking place.

While talking to the boys, the officer learned one boy was carrying four knives, another possessed two knives and the third had a BB gun, the news release said.

Officers from Prosser, Sunnyside, Mabton and Yakima County responded to assist Grandview police.

Two 16-year-old Grandview boys and a 15-year-old Everett boy were taken into custody on an investigative hold for carrying dangerous weapons on school property.

Their names were not released because they are juveniles.
