West Richland police are reminding citizens to lock vehicle doors after property was stolen this week from a number of cars within a five-block radius.
Seven of the eight reported victims told officers their vehicle doors were left unlocked, Capt. Al Escalera said.
Police were called at 4:25 a.m. Friday for a vehicle prowl in progress in the 5400 block of Kirkwood Lane. The resident reported seeing two people going through her neighbor's car, but the suspects ran away when confronted, Escalera said in a statement.
Officers checked the area but couldn't find the suspects, who were described as two males dressed in black. One of the suspects was taller than the other.
Within hours, police responded to seven other vehicle prowl reports in the same neighborhood.
Escalera encourages citizens to report suspicious activity by calling West Richland police at 967-3425 or 911 if it's an emergency. Anyone with information on the car break-ins should contact the police department.
