RICHLAND -- A student organization at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland has arranged several events this week to recognize Veterans Awareness Week.

Veterans make up 8 percent of the student body at the Richland campus, according to a release. All the events are organized by the group Veterans & Allies.

* Veteran Student Roundtable: The roundtable will be a dialogue on issues facing student veterans. It will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Room 138 in the West Building.

* Boots to Books: Veterans who are staff, students and faculty on the Richland campus will talk about their transition from military to civilian life. The panel will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in West Building atrium.

* Welcome Reception for Psychologist Steven Malone: Malone was recently appointed to the Richland campus to provided life coaching and counseling to veterans as part of the Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership grant. The reception will be at 2 p.m. Thursday just inside the West Building entrance.

All events are free and open to the public. There also will be Troop Care Package donation boxes around campus through Thursday as students collect items to send soldiers overseas.
