Once the Columbia Basin College mens soccer team steps back and looks at the big picture, the Hawks will consider this season a success.
But the pain of falling one game short of the NWAACC semifinals might take a while to shake off.
The Hawks fell 1-0 to Edmonds in an NWAACC quarterfinal match Saturday in Lynwood, as Zak Naylor scored off an assist from Eli Seye in the 60th minute.
CBC finished 12-7-4, its best finish since 2010, when the Hawks finished 12-4-4 and reached the semifinals.
The Walla Walla men will play their quarterfinal match at 1 p.m. today against visiting Tacoma.

Everett women 1, Walla Walla 0: The Warriors will not play in the NWAACC womens championship match for the first time since 2004, losing to Everett in the quarterfinals.
Walla Walla had won three consecutive womens titles and had been a fixture in the championship match, reaching it seven times in a row.
But Everetts Kassandra Blakely scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute off an assist from Lisa Echert, and the Trojans defense held off the high-scoring Warriors for the next 74 minutes.
