Events scheduled in Mid-Columbia to honor veterans

There are plenty of events to honor veterans this weekend around the Mid-Columbia. Here's a list of them:

-- A Veterans Day observance starts at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park in Kennewick. Tom McMillin, president of the Tri-Cities Memorial Committee and a Navy veteran, said members of various organizations will participate in the ceremony at the east end of the park near the Highway 240 exit.

-- The annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 in downtown Prosser.

The parade starts at Keene-Riverview Elementary School and follows the traditional States Day parade route through the downtown area. For more information call 509-778-1820 or the Prosser Chamber of Commerce at 509-786-3177.

-- The Columbia Chorale will pay tribute to American soldiers in a Veterans Day concert Sunday in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church in Kennewick. The free concert starts at 3 p.m. at the church at 2001 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick. Donations are welcome.

-- The Columbia River Young Marines are sponsoring a free-to-veterans appreciation dinner that include spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at GracePoint Church of God, 1915 N. Road 84, Pasco. For more information, call 582-9208.

-- The Tri-Cities Elk Lodge #2755 is holding a veterans' appreciation dinner. Doors will open at 4 p.m. today, and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. The dinner is free for all veterans, with an $8 charge for spouses and guests. It's at the lodge, 15 S. Colorado St., Kennewick. Seating is limited. To make a reservation, call 735-6035.

-- To thank veterans for all their sacrifices and service, the Autobahn Auto Care Center at 3928 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick will be offering a free car wash to all veterans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Veterans Day.

-- Wingstop of Pasco and Richland will offer all active and retired military personnel a free meal on Sunday, Nov. 11. The Pasco store at 6605 Burden Blvd. is open from 11 a.m. to midnight. The Richland store at 121 Gage Blvd., is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

-- Bush Car Wash in Richland is offering free car washes to retired or active duty military from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at 1131 Aaron Drive. There are more than 1,600 worldwide car washes offering this service on Veterans Day as part of the Grace for Vets program. See graceforvets.org for more details.

-- Texas Roadhouse will serve free meals to veterans throughout Veterans Day weekend. Veterans eat free from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. To receive the free entre and beverage, veterans must show valid credentials or military identification.

Texas Roadhouse is at 845 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Kennewick.

-- Wildhorse Resort and Casino will offer a free buffet for veterans from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the casino off Interstate 84 in Pendleton.

Veterans will need to show their military identification or be wearing their uniform to take advantage of the offer.
