The Franklin County Commissioners on Wednesday unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a 900-square-foot storage building for a slaughterhouse in Basin City.

The permit was granted to Carefree Meats, which owns 13.6 acres on Glade North Road near Road 170, where it operates the slaughterhouse. The land is zoned for agricultural production.

The application said the building is for the storage of equipment and hides. The permit also allows for the skinning of animals in the building.
