Richland's Nicole Weinman was named the Mid-Columbia Conference Swimmer of the Year.

The senior, who holds the Mid-Columbia’s top times in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 55.92 seconds) and 500 free (5:10.31), received first-team honors in both events, as well as in all three relays.

Her teammate Lisa Bratton was picked as a first-teamer in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. She is the defending state champion in the IM and the top seed in both events entering the Class 4A state championships, starting Friday in Federal Way.

Bratton, a junior, also was part of Richland's first-team 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Other individual first-teamers include Kamiakin's Danielle Brandon (1-meter diving) and Hanford's Stephanie Tixier (100 butterfly) and Lisa Tixier (100 free).

Walla Walla’s Katharine Curles, whose team went 3-2 in the MCC, was picked for Coach of the Year. Wa-Hi will send Emma Timm-Ballard (200 free, 100 back), Abby Crowley (200 IM, 100 back) and Cheyenne Schoen, a first-teamer in the 100 breaststroke, to state this weekend at the King County Aquatic Center. Those three are expected to compete with Natalie Fink in the 200 medley and 400 free relays at state.
