State House: Edwards

October 29, 2012

ROBERT BLAHUT, Prosser

I support Mary Ruth Edwards for the 16th Legislative District. Maureen Walsh, the incumbent, is a fiscal conservative and is strong on education. But she's also a social liberal who supports gay marriage and is vague on other major issues that affect our rights.

Edwards supports our right to bear arms and opposes its infringement. She opposes the erosion of our property rights under the auspices of growth management and will work to reverse this U.N.-driven program. She supports state sovereignty and efforts to reduce federal government control. And she knows how mandates have stripped the ability of our school districts to provide quality education and wants to return education to local control.

Walsh prides herself on "reaching across the aisle" to help the other side to get things done. That may have been good enough in the past, but we need to take it to the next level and stop the further erosion of our freedoms and education and enable us to make appropriate use of our resources to create jobs and a strong economy.

Edwards will take us to the next level, and I urge you to vote for her in this election.
