Soccer: Richland shuts out Pasco for 4A district title

Richland 4, Pasco 0: Kirsten Calmus scored twice, Katherine Virden had two assists and the Bombers claimed the Class 4A District 5 title at Fran Rish Stadium.

“Pasco came out, and they were playing really hard and were together and made it difficult on us,” Richland assistant coach Chip Elfering said. “In the second half, we got some more shots on goal and turned it up a little bit.”

Samantha Heilman and Andes Archibald added the other two goals for Richland.

The Bombers will host Central Valley on Tuesday with a state berth on the line. The game will be at either 4 or 6 p.m. depending on if the lights at Bomber Field are fixed in time.

Pasco’s Carrie Nolan and Richland’s Sam Beck each made three saves in goal.
