Volleyball: Chiawana's Steach wins Mid-Col player of the year

Chiawana senior setter Jaymee Steach, who helped the Riverhawks tie for first place this season with the Richland Bombers in the regular-season standings, was named the Mid-Columbia Conference’s volleyball player of the year.

Steach was joined on the first team by two of her Chiawana teammates, senior middle hitter Madison Powers and junior hitter Shantelle Hill.

Richland’s Bob Raidl was chosen as the coach of the year. The Bombers (12-2) earned the Class 4A No. 1 seed after sweeping the Riverhawks during the regular season.

Kamiakin, which earned the Class 3A No. 1 seed, placed Amanda Miller and Hunter Durham on the first team.
