The Richland Bombers have found their new baseball coach.

Grant Richardson will step into the cleats of his former coach, Ben Jacobs, who retired last month after 24 seasons and four state titles. Richardson was on one of those championship teams, in 1999, when he drove in the winning run in the final against Hudson’s Bay.

After graduating from Richland in 2001, he went on to play first base at Washington State and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 14th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball amateur draft.

In other hiring news, the Bombers picked Jason Bare to coach their new girls bowling program.
