Benton County led the state in new cases of syphilis reported during the week ending Oct. 16 according to the state director of health.
Franklin County was second with nine new cases and King County was third with six cases. King County led the state in new cases of gonorrhea with 33. Benton County was second with 11 and Franklin trailed with two.
