1992: Jolyn Kelly had nine kills and six blocks, while Tara Rattray added 11 kills as the Kiona-Benton volleyball team swept Toppenish in the battle of the Yakima Valley A unbeatens, 15-10, 15-10, 15-10.

1985: Jockey Tim Story rode Antique Jet wire-to-wire in the $51,525 Pot O'Gold Quarterhorse Futurity. Trained by Lin Melton and owned by Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Boekenoggen, Antique Jet covered the 400 yards in 20.9 seconds.

1976: Columbia Basin College football coach Jim Thrasher named tight end Eric Anderson (5 catches for 56 yards) and linebacker Lee Beedle (12 tackles and a blocked extra-point kick) as the team's players of the week after the Hawks beat Grays Harbor the previous Saturday 39-22.
