Gov. Chris Gregoire is scheduled to be in Richland on Friday to participate in the Wine Science Center site dedication at Washington State University Tri-Cities.
WSU President Elson S. Floyd and Ted Baseler, CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, also are expected to be a part of the ceremonies that begin at 10 a.m.
The Wine Science Center will be built on Port of Benton land along George Washington Way next to the campus. Construction, scheduled to begin in 2013, will be directed by the city of Richland through a public development authority.
Once the $23.25 million project is completed, the facility and land will be handed over to WSU and become the focal point of the university's viticulture and enology program.
