HERMISTON -- Hermiston School District Superintendent Fred Maiocco is back in his office this week after serving an 18-month deployment with the Army Reserve.
Maiocco, a colonel, was primarily stationed in Kuwait with the 364th Sustainment Command unit, providing logistical support across the Middle East and helping with the drawdown of U.S. forces from Iraq, according to a release from the district.
Maiocco spent much of Monday meeting with Wade Smith, who was the interim superintendent in his absence, and meeting with other community leaders.
