Swimming: Wenatchee tops Hanford, Richland

The Richland girls swim team won 10 of 12 events against Wenatchee on Saturday, but the host Panthers used several 2-3-4 finishes to prevail over their former CBBN rival 97-89.

Meanwhile, Hanford got five wins in its 108-78 loss to Wenatchee.

Richland’s Nicole Weinman qualified for state with her victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 58.98 seconds) and 500 free (5:18.51), while Lisa Bratton qualified in the 100 free with a winning time of 54.70 seconds. Bratton also took the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.62.

Alyssa Musick was Richland’s other double winner, taking the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

In the 400 free relay, Bratton, Weinman, Lauren Hall and Sarah Olsen beat the Panthers with a state-qualifying time of 3:45.03.

Hanford’s Stephanie Tixier posted state-qualifying times in her four events -- the 50 free, 200 free, and 200 and 400 free relays -- and her sister Lisa also qualified in the 500 free with a time of 5:27.52.

The Falcons’ wins came from Stephanie Tixier in the 200 free, Lisa Tixier in the 500 free and 100 breaststroke, and the 200 and 400 free relays. The Tixiers swam on the 200 free relay with Linnea Peacock and Kayla Burnight, and on the 400 free relay with Mylie Oberg and Taylor Fievez.

WALLA WALLA 101, KENNEWICK 68: Emma Timm-Ballard and Abby Crowley each won two individual events and were on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams as the host Blue Devils (3-1 Mid-Columbia Conference) beat the Lions (0-4-1).

Kennewick’s Murphy trio -- Hailey, Alexis and Blair -- qualified with Samantha Lester for state in the 200 medley relay, clocking 1:57.59. That quartet later won the 400 free relay.

Hailey Murphy qualified for state on her own in the 200 IM with her winning time of 2:16.51, and she also took the 100 breaststroke.
