2007: Jarrod Mendenhall threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 11 yards and another score to lead Kennewick High School to a 31-7 win over West Valley in Columbia Basin League 3A football at Lampson Stadium. Robbie Mitchell scored three touchdowns for the Lions, including a 45-yard fumble return as the Kennewick defense racked up six sacks and five turnovers.

1997: A check of the Big Nine girls soccer scoring leaders halfway through the season has Richland's Hope Solo atop the list with 16 goals. The junior, who finished second in the league in scoring as a freshman and sophomore, already was impressing coaches from Division I colleges as well as the U.S. national team.
