Cross country: Williams, Bradley lead Richland runners

Richland’s Michael Williams and Lindsey Bradley raced to Mid-Columbia Conference cross country victories on Thursday at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick.

Williams covered the 3-mile course in 14 minutes, 59.5 seconds for the victory.

Kamiakin to the boys’s team title, as Keegan McCormick, Garrett Kraal and Ahmed Ibrahim finished second through fourth.

Bradley led the Bombers girls to the team title with her first-place finish, which was 17:09.6.

Kamiakin’s Megan Beauchene and Michelle Fletcher was second and third, respectively.

DISTRICT 9 CROSS COUNTRY: Six Tri-Cities Prep runners, led by Kelly Smith, placed among the top 10 boys Wednesday at Whitman Mission in Walla Walla.

Smith was timed at 18 minutes, 3.91 seconds, followed by Sam Leon (third), Joseph Ghirardo (fourth), Jorge Guajardo (fifth), John Hylden (sixth) and Will Bryan (ninth).

Waitsburg-Prescott’s Tewedros McDowell placed second in 18:06.25.

Tri-Cities Prep won the meet with 19 points, well ahead of Asotin’s 68.

On the girls side, Tri-Cities Prep’s Victoria Nunez was third behind Heather Siegel and Jordan Porubek of meet winner St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse-Washtucna. Nunez was timed in 22:02.07 for second-place TCP.
