Thank you for publishing the informative articles on our local agriculture. We are a combined third- and fourth-grade classroom at Jason Lee Elementary in Richland, and through the Tri-City Herald agriculture series we were able to apply our science units about plants, land and water and our social studies unit about Washington state geography to the real world right in our community.

We read and summarized the articles about potatoes, corn, lentils, carrots and asparagus, then we made a delicious vegetarian lentil soup in the classroom using those ingredients. Our next step will be to plant and grow some of the vegetables we learned about.
