On Oct. 4, my two older sisters and I were having breakfast at International House of Pancakes on Canal Drive.

We are elderly. My sisters are on walkers and one is on oxygen, too. I live in Birmingham, Ala., but I'm visiting my family who all live in Washington.

Anyway, when we received our bill, the waiter took the money and came back with it and told us the bill had been paid.

We were very surprised, but we want to thank that kind, generous person who paid our bill.
