Brittany Vickerman had three goals and an assist to help the Connell Eagles girls soccer team beat the Warden Cougars 6-1 at home in SCAC East play Tuesday.

Warden’s goal came from Jennifer Mendoza in the 75th minute.

“Last practice we were really working on keeping the ball on the ground. We usually play over the top,” Ki-Be coach Marty Martinez said. “We did a good job of combining together tonight, taking some good shots and getting better looks at the goal.”

“Miller and Stephenson just fed off each other up front,” Chiawana coach Rich Zoller said. “Lexi Ellingsen had a really good game in center midfield, too.”

Hanford 1, Pasco 0: Rebekah Arneson scored the only goal of the match off an assist from Sydney Shintaffer in the 62nd minute, lifting the Falcons to the MCC home win over the Bulldogs.

“It was a big goal for us and a great one for her,” Hanford assistant coach Glen Ledgerwood said of Arneson, a sophomore reserve midfielder. “Pasco is a tough team that’s well organized. It’s a big win that secured us second place in the 3A, which means a first-round home game at regionals.”

Kamiakin 7, Kennewick 0: The Braves spread the wealth in a shutout win over the Lions at Lampson, getting goals from six different players. Ellie Heiden scored two second-half goals to give her 12 on the season, and Alisha Nguyen added a goal and two assists for Kamiakin.

“Last time we played them, we didn’t play well. But this time we played well, and Kennewick raised the bar right with us,” Braves coach Chris Erikson said. “For a team that gets beat up every week, I thought they looked good and played hard.”

The Bombers, Hanford and Chiawana are tied for second in the standings at 8-3, behind Kamiakin (9-1).

“All of them from here on out are key game,” said Richland coach Sara Elfering. “If we win out, we can lock up the first seed for the 4A side. All we can take care of is ourselves. We want to play our best soccer going into the playoffs.”

Davis 6, Sunnyside 0: Sunnyside and Davis played to a scoreless first half, but the Pirates came to life in the second half to beat Sunnyside in Big Nine action in Yakima.

Melissa Flores had two goals for Davis, which saw leading scorer MacKenna Morton limited to just one goal.

“It was an awesome first half to shut her down,” Grizzlies coach Sylvia Villagrana said of Davis’ Mackenna Morton. “The first half was intense. She was frustrated.”
