Benton PUD general manager Jim Sanders to retire

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Jim Sanders, the general manager of the Benton PUD, plans to retire Jan. 2 after leading the agency for 16 years.

The Benton PUD Commission will consider promoting assistant general manager Chad Bartram to his position at its meeting Tuesday. A decision is expected no sooner than Oct. 23, the next scheduled commission meeting.

Sanders joined Benton PUD in 1977 and was appointed manager Jan. 1, 1997. He previously served as Benton PUD as assistant manager and chief engineer, director of technical services and system engineer.

He previously worked for the city of Richland and Idaho Power Co.

Sanders has recommended that Bartram be considered for general manager.

"Mr. Bartram has the experience, dedication and knowledge needed to be an effective general manager and has contributed to the district's success in many business areas currently under his responsibility," according to the recommendation in the commission meeting agenda packet.

Bartram joined Benton PUD in 2001. He oversees financial management, treasury, accounting, customer service, key accounts and information systems.

He is a certified public accountant and certified management accountant, with a master's degree in management science.

The Tuesday meeting will start at 9 a.m. at 2721 W. 10th Ave., Kennewick.
