1969: Bill Donckers and Frank Miller combined on a 90-yard touchdown pass to lead the Columbia Basin College football team to a 21-14 road win over the Wenatchee Black Knights at the Apple Bowl. The Hawks, ranked 17th in the nation, also got a big play on defense when Dory Clausnitzer returned a fumble 46 yards for a score in the final minutes.

1957: Coach Fran Rish's Richland football team was less concerned with defending state champion Walla Walla -- the Bombers won 20-0 -- than the Asian flu that was going around. Rish talked about getting flu shots for his entire team, with a big test against Pasco coming the next week. Richland held Wa-Hi QB Don Davis to just three completions and 29 yards passing.
